Piano film hits in jazz style — New Year miniatures
About
A jazz-piano concert of miniatures based on film themes at the Nostalgia Museum, a historical building on Nevsky Prospekt. Pianist and composer Ilya Goncharov performs original solo arrangements of internationally familiar film music, interleaved with short conversational sections about jazz and cinema and clips on a screen behind the piano. Includes a reception (fourshet), a retro film-music quiz and prizes — a stage-and-social event rather than a pure recital. The Nostalgia Museum's Nevsky rooms are part of the atmosphere. Low language load; the piano miniatures carry the substance.
Bureau's take
One of the more social New Year evenings on the Petersburg calendar — jazz-piano miniatures on familiar film themes, with a reception. Good pick for a small-group evening.
