New Year concert — Admiralty Orchestra
About
A New Year concert by the Admiralty Orchestra of the Leningrad Naval Base — the oldest military orchestra of the Russian Navy — at the U Finlyandskogo Concert Hall on the north bank of the Neva. The ensemble consists of professional military musicians and regularly appears on the Petersburg concert stage as well as at international festivals; it holds the Honorary Prize of the Russian Ministry of Defence. Programme is a seasonal Russian military-orchestra mix: Russian and international symphonic and pops repertoire in full-orchestra arrangements.
Bureau's take
A working Russian Navy orchestra rather than a civilian band. Distinct Petersburg identity — the Admiralty and the Fleet run deep in the city's culture.
