A bus city tour of Petersburg's historical centre, with a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress on Zayachy (Hare) Island in the Neva. The fortress was founded by Peter I on 27 May 1703 — the accepted birthday of the city itself. The route covers the main architectural landmarks with commentary from a bus. The Peter and Paul Fortress visit includes the Peter and Paul Cathedral, designed by Domenico Trezzini and one of the tallest buildings in central Petersburg; it contains the burial vaults of the Romanov dynasty from Peter I onward. Reasonable option for a short-visit orientation with the fortress and cathedral included.
