A guided tour of the Alexandrinsky Theatre — the oldest drama company in Russia, in the Carlo Rossi-designed 1832 building on Ostrovsky Square. The tour covers the Carriage Gallery, the Audience and Imperial Foyer, and the Tsar's and Emperor Nicholas I's Private Box. The tour also includes discussion of the archaeological finds made during recent renovation work — specific historical objects the building had preserved unnoticed for over a century — and covers the working life of the theatre as a producing institution.
