Crime? Punishment. — immersive show (Dostoevsky)
About
An immersive show at the Castle on Nevsky performance space based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. The novel — one of the essential works of 19th-century Russian literature — explores the moral and psychological unravelling of the student Rodion Raskolnikov after he commits a murder that he intended as a philosophical act. The immersive format lets the audience move alongside the characters, watching the moral drama unfold at close range. The novel is set in the same central-Petersburg streets the show takes place in — the geographical specificity is a significant part of the effect. In Russian; the story is internationally familiar in translation.
Bureau's take
A serious immersive Dostoevsky show in the actual Petersburg district the novel is set in. Recommended for readers of Crime and Punishment.
