Kirishi Regional Museum
About
A regional history museum in the Leningrad Oblast industrial town of Kirishi, on the Volkhov River east of Petersburg. The museum was founded alongside the town itself and documents its post-war construction — an oil refinery and power station built in the 1960s as an All-Union Komsomol Shock Construction Project. Exhibits include the town plan, industrial-facility scale models, technical objects (a control panel and shield from the power station's first energy block), photographs and construction documents. A dedicated interactive room provides context on post-war Soviet industrial-town planning. For visitors specifically interested in mid-20th-century Soviet industrial and urban history. Kirishi is a day trip from Petersburg.
