About
Stas Namin's band Tsvety (Flowers) — one of the first Soviet rock groups, founded in Moscow in 1969 in the wake of Woodstock — play a full-set concert at the Colosseum Concert Hall on Nevsky Prospekt. Tsvety cut through the state-variety monopoly of Soviet music with a student sound that did not fit the official categories, and became one of the earliest Russian bands to sell in mass numbers: the 1973 single 'Zvyozdochka Moya Yasnaya' reportedly reached seven million copies. Under perestroika they toured the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa; the band also took part in the Russian production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The current line-up has been stable for about a decade, still led by Stas Namin. Expect the catalogue in full.
