A candlelit concert at the Basilica of St Catherine of Alexandria on Nevsky Prospekt, pairing the pipe organ with the Armenian duduk — the double-reed woodwind whose mournful tone has come to stand for the entire Armenian sound world. The programme moves between sacred European music and Armenian traditional material.

The Basilica of St Catherine is one of the oldest surviving Catholic churches in Russia. Organ-and-duduk pairings are rare and often surprisingly moving — the reed's breath answers the organ's mechanism in a way you don't hear anywhere else.
