Alexander Vampilov's 1966 drama Farewell in June (Proshchanie v iyune) at the Molodezhny Theatre on the Fontanka. Vampilov's first major play about a specifically Soviet university-town chamber tragedy — the small daily arithmetic of end-of-term compromises.

Vampilov is the great missing playwright of the Russian 20th century — drowned aged 35 in 1972. Farewell in June is one of his emotionally direct pieces.
