Domenico Cimarosa's opera buffa The Secret Marriage — one of the essential late-18th-century Italian comic operas — at the Chamber Musical Theatre Sankt-Peterburg Opera. Premiered on 7 February 1792 at the Court Theatre in Vienna, the work is contemporary with Mozart's mature operas and shares their combination of comic plotting and expressive melodic writing. Sung in Italian; runs the classic buffa plot of secret marriage complicated by mistaken engagement, resolved in the finale.
