Bacchanalia. Pasternak (first study)
About
A performance at the Maly Drama Theatre — Theatre of Europe on the events of 23 October 1958, when the Nobel Foundation secretary Anders Österling sent Boris Pasternak the telegram announcing his Nobel Prize in Literature. Pasternak (1890-1960) — the author of Doctor Zhivago — was compelled by the Soviet authorities to refuse the prize; the resulting cultural crisis is at the centre of the piece. In Russian; language-heavy — the archival material is the substance.
Bureau's take
A serious historical drama on Pasternak's Nobel Prize at MDT — one of the essential Petersburg drama houses. Language-heavy.
