Vivaldi — The Four Seasons at Annenkirche
About
A candlelit concert of familiar classical repertoire at Annenkirche (St Anne's Lutheran Church), the working Lutheran church on Kirochnaya Ulitsa. Performed by the Olympic Orchestra. Part one: Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons — one of the most widely known works of the baroque violin canon. Part two: a selection of Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Brahms in orchestral arrangements. A live Ebru artist creates paintings alongside the music, projected as part of the visual staging. The room's post-fire restored interior — burnt brick left exposed — is a serious part of the visual environment.
Bureau's take
A well-programmed Four Seasons in one of the more distinctive Petersburg concert rooms. Reliable pick for visitors who want a familiar classical evening in an atmospheric setting.
