Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Die Zauberflöte — the composer's last opera and one of the enduring works of the operatic canon — presented as part of a season subscription titled 'Fairytale Opera for Children and Adults'. The score is a Singspiel: sung numbers interleaved with spoken dialogue, which historically made it Mozart's most immediately accessible opera. Themes — friendship, initiation, the moral education of two young lovers — cross generations, which is why the piece survives its Enlightenment context.
