A stage version of Alexander Volkov's The Wizard of the Emerald City at the Akimov Comedy Theatre. Volkov's 1939 Russian retelling of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz became one of the great children's book series of the Soviet era — Ellie, Totoshka the dog, the Scarecrow, the Iron Woodsman and the Cowardly Lion. Suits children aged 7 to 12.

In Russia, the Emerald City is Volkov's more than Baum's — the series ran to six books and generations of children grew up on them. A serious literary source, well handled.
