Ludwig Minkus's ballet La Bayadère at the Mariinsky. Choreographed by Marius Petipa in 1877 for the Imperial Ballet, La Bayadère is one of the great full-length classical works — the story of the temple dancer Nikiya, the warrior Solor and the great Kingdom of the Shades scene, one of the most celebrated ensemble pieces in the ballet repertoire.
