Puccini's opera at the St Petersburg Chamber Music Theatre. La Bohème — the story of Rodolfo, Mimì and the young Parisian artists trying to survive a Latin Quarter winter — is one of the great melodramas of the standard repertoire. The Chamber Music Theatre production keeps the scale intimate.

La Bohème works well at chamber scale — this is a domestic story, not a spectacle. Puccini's score does most of the emotional work; the smaller room lets it.
