The Weirdos
About
A drama at Vyborgsky House of Culture based on stories by Vasily Shukshin — the Siberian-born writer, actor and film director whose portraits of the small daily strangenesses of rural and small-town Russian life are one of the essential mid-century Russian literary voices.
Bureau's take
Shukshin's 'chudaki' (weirdos) are a specific Russian archetype. Any decent stage adaptation lets the strangeness of the characters carry the show.
