About
Lope de Vega's Golden Age Spanish comedy The Silly Girl (La dama boba, 1613) at KDTs Moskovsky. Two sisters — one clever, one apparently stupid — negotiate a Madrid marriage market that has already decided their fortunes for them. Sharp, funny, feminist ahead of its time. In verse translation.
Bureau's take
Lope de Vega is one of the great playwrights of the European tradition. The Silly Girl is one of the plays through which he keeps surprising modern audiences.
