Pesnyary — Belarusian State Ensemble
About
A concert by the Belarusian State Ensemble Pesnyary, one of the most widely known Belarusian music groups of the past half-century. Founded in Minsk by Vladimir Mulyavin at the end of the 1960s and still active more than fifty years later; the 2024 season marked the group's 55th anniversary. Repertoire draws on Belarusian folk-influenced popular song alongside the ensemble's own back catalogue. The line-up has changed several times over the decades but the current generation of singers works as inheritors of Mulyavin's musical style. At the Colosseum Concert Hall on Nevsky Prospekt.
Bureau's take
A specifically Belarusian folk-pop tradition — worth it for visitors interested in the wider post-Soviet music-cultural map, especially if travelling on from Petersburg to Minsk.
