Oleg Mityaev — bardic-song concert
About
A concert by Oleg Mityaev, one of the defining voices of the Russian bardic-song tradition — the acoustic singer-songwriter genre that dominated late-Soviet unofficial music. Mityaev holds the title of People's Artist of Russia; his best-known song, 'Kak Zdorovo Chto Vse My Zdes Segodnya Sobralis', is a shared reference across Russian audiences of most generations. Programme: material from across a long career — songs about love, daily life and human character that carry the bardic-song emphasis on text over instrumental production. Guitar and voice; small band. At BKZ Oktyabrsky, central Petersburg.
Bureau's take
The clearest chance to hear the Russian avtorskaya pesnya singer-songwriter tradition on a serious concert stage. Language matters — this is a text-driven evening.
