About
A stage version of Sergei Dovlatov's novella The Preserve (Zapovednik, 1983) at Legenda Theatre. Dovlatov's cult novella about a summer working as a tour guide at the Pushkin estate at Mikhailovskoye is one of the great comic accounts of late-Soviet cultural life.
Bureau's take
Dovlatov is now one of the great voices of late-Soviet literature. The Preserve is arguably his warmest and funniest novella; the stage version trusts the writing.
