Molière's Tartuffe at the Molodezhny Theatre on the Fontanka. The 1664 comedy — a religious hypocrite talks his way into a bourgeois household — was banned repeatedly on first performance and remains one of the sharpest attacks on false piety in world theatre. Two acts.
Bureau's take
Tartuffe is a play that stays contemporary regardless of the century. The Molodezhny plays it as the moral argument that it is.
